I don’t know about you, but my skin is feeling drier now than it did this winter.  Fortunately, my friend Milla Waldman who owns Studio M, wrote this informative article that tells us how to transition our skin from winter to spring.  Milla, thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!

Super Secret for Glowing Skin by Milla Waldman

Just as the ground needs to be taken care of with fertilizers to help produce luscious green grass and flowers, our skin need nourishment too. At this time of year, it is especially important to use a mask daily or a few times per week. I tend to apply mine in the morning while reading the newspaper and having my coffee. Your skin will glow all day!! I suggest Anna Lotan Pearl Mask ($45) or Environ AVST Clay Mask ($40).

The first and most important regime for renewal is to slough off the dead cells at least 2-3 times a week for a brighter complexion. But, be sure they are gentle enough for your skin type. Avoid using crushed nuts like apricot or almond, which are too harsh for any skin type. Try Anna Lotan Golden Marine Scrub ($34) or a gentle enzyme product such as Germaine De Capuccini enzyme exfoliating foam ($55).

Once your skin is cleansed and exfoliated it is time to nourish with topical antioxidants, such as vitamins C, E and A. They will protect your skin from free radical scavengers and prepare your skin for warmer temperatures and sun exposure.

We tend to forget about the parts of our body that are covered up all winter. Once or twice a week is usually enough for your body scrubs. I love Germaine de Capuccini Aromatic Salts body exfoliant ($59). If your feet are dry and cracked try Germaine de Capuccini correcting foot cream ($36.50) on the rough calluses then cover them with socks for overnight healing. The same can be done for your hands with Germaine de Capuccini nourishing hand cream ($40). For the body, try a product containing lactic acid, which helps to gently exfoliate your skin (Derma-lac lotion $62). After exfoliation apply Environ Essentia oil at night and Germaine de Capuccini body moisturizer in the morning.

Spring is a great time to look tan after a long cold winter. Germaine de Capuccini Self-tanning Mousse will give an attractive, natural instant tan ($66). Don’t forget to see a dermatologist for a complete body checkup. It is very important to check your body for moles and/or pigmentation. And remember to check the expiration date of your sunscreen; most likely it should be replaced.

Springtime is also the best time to get rid of your old makeup and purchase the new colors of the season. However, with springtime allergies in full force, make sure the products you use are hyper-allergenic and your mascara and eye makeup products are new.

I hope you all enjoy our beautiful Philadelphia springtime and don’t forget to wear sunscreen, a wide rimed hat (no smaller than 3″) and your movie star, oversized Sunglasses!

If you happen to live in the Philadelphia region, please make an appointment to see this amazing woman.  She is a lovely person on the inside and out..and she is a master when it comes to skincare.  Thanks again Milla!
